Printing to PDF on Macs if Print is not Enabled

This issue is due to an incompatibility with the built-in printing software for Macintosh computers, and the solution is to connect to a printer so that different printing software can be used. If you do not have access to a physical printer, please add a fictitious one:

  1. From the Apple menu, select “System Preferences”.
  2. In the "System Preferences" window, select "Printers & Scanners"
  3. In the "Printers & Scanners" window, click the "+" and select "Add Printer or Scanner..."
  4. In the "Add" window, select the "IP" tab on the top left, enter 0.0.0.0 in the "Address:" entry, select "AirPrint" in the "Protocol:" drop-down menu, and in the "Use:" drop-down menu (which will read "Choose a Driver..."), choose "Select Software..."
  5. In the "Printer Software" window, select "HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5" and click "OK"
  6. In the new "Add" window, you can now click "Add" on the bottom right
  7. You should now get a warning that your computer is "Unable to verify the printer on your network." Click "Continue" anyway to set up the network
  8. In the "Setting up '0.0.0.0...’ " window, click "OK"
  9. The fictitious printer should now be added, allowing the "Print to PDF" feature to work.
